Equifax Data Breach

​Equifax Inc., one of the largest American credit reporting agencies, has disclosed a data breach that may have impacted as many as 143 million consumers in the U.S. The breach may include sensitive information such as social security numbers, birthdays, addresses, and driver license numbers. How Can I Protect My Information?

If you have a Power Protected Checking account and have enrolled in Power Protected ID Monitoring:

  • Log in to your Power Protected ID Monitoring and make sure all your personal and bank account information is entered into the system. Remember, Power Protected ID Monitoring protects more than just your Security Service accounts—it protects your personal information, such as your Social Security number, driver license number, and passwords, along with financial accounts you may have at other institutions. It also monitors the Dark Web, where criminals buy and sell stolen personal data.
  • Read any monitoring alerts you receive from Security Service via email or text. To update your alert preferences, log in to Power Protected ID Monitoring and go to Account Settings. 
  • Additionally, log in to myBranch Online Banking and make sure all of your contact information—including your phone number, email, and address—is up to date in case we need to contact you about your accounts.

If you have a Power Protected Checking account and HAVE NOT ENROLLED in Power Protected ID Monitoring:

  • Call our 24/7 Call Center at 1-888-415-7878 to receive your login credentials.
  • Once you receive your login information, visit Power Protected ID Monitoring to enroll.
  • Complete all information, including your personal information, Security Service accounts, and any other bank accounts you may have. Power Protected ID Monitoring protects not only your Security Service and other bank accounts, but all personal information you provide. It also monitors the Dark Web, where criminals buy and sell stolen personal data.
  • To receive text and/or email alerts, log in to Power Protected ID Monitoring and select your alert preferences in Account Settings. Please ensure you read any monitoring alerts you receive from Security Service. 
  • Additionally, log in to myBranch Online Banking and make sure all of your contact information—including your phone number, email, and address—is up to date in case we need to contact you about your accounts.

If you do not have Power Protected Checking with ID Theft Protection & Monitoring:

  • We do everything we can to keep your information safe, but we recognize devastating events like this happen, and will continue to happen. Security Service has developed a product specifically to protect our members from the impact of data breaches. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of Power Protected Checking to protect yourself. Open a Power Protected Checking account and enroll in ID theft protection and monitoring services.
