(SAN ANTONIO, TX – SEPTEMBER 3, 2021) –– Security Service Federal Credit Union has donated $40,343 to help students head back to the classroom this school year with the school supplies they need to succeed. Through its annual “Pack a Backpack” campaign held throughout the month of July, Security Service collected monetary donations at all of its branch locations in Texas, Colorado and Utah.
For the past five consecutive years, Security Service has provided funds from its “Pack a Backpack” campaign to support several local organizations in all three of its service areas that provide school supplies for children in need. The annual campaign allows members, staff and the community to make monetary donations to purchase supplies such as backpacks, colored pencils, crayons, notebooks, erasers, folders, pens, pencils, tissues, and more.
“With everything happening due to COVID, the need is extremely critical now more than ever,” said Brandy Ralston-Lint, senior vice president of corporate communications for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “Times are tough for so many families and being able to partner with so many local organizations allows thousands of students in our communities to benefit from our program.”
This year’s benefiting organizations include SAYES (TX), CCYES (TX), Granite Education Foundation (UT), El Paso Armed Services YMCA (TX), the Salvation Army of Salt Lake City (UT), the Salvation Army of El Paso County (CO) and the Salvation Army of South Texas (TX).
