SECURITY SERVICE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION
DONATES $10,804 TO THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL OF SAN ANTONIO
Donation to help purchase Hi-Tech Medical Equipment
(SAN ANTONIO, TX – April 26, 2019) – The Security Service Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation is helping provide state of the art medical equipment to treat children. The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio will use the $10,804 donation to purchase two AccuVein Illuminator Units.
These devices increase patient comfort by decreasing the number of times a child experiences needle insertions. Through infrared laser light, veins can be seen clearly and easily for quick and effective intravenous needle insertions.
“For a child, any medical procedure can be scary,” said John E. Bel, president of The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation. “This donation from Security Service is allowing us to purchase equipment which will help ease the fears of both children and parents.”
The AccuVein Illuminator Units will be used throughout the hospital. The units are portable and rechargeable, allowing them to be used as needed.
“As a parent, you want the best treatment possible for your child,” said Jim Chapman, senior vice president of Security Service Insurance and board member for The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation. “These vein illuminators will provide the tools needed for a high level of care and ultimately help the children and families in our community.”
The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation was chartered in 1955 to carry out a vision: that every child in South Central Texas would receive the best available medical care, even if their parents could not pay. Dollars raised support treatment, research and health-related programs, as well as capital projects.
The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.
