COMMUNITY CAMPAIGNS HELP RAISE MORE THAN DONATES $2,500 TO COVER COST OF GED MATERIALS AND EXAMS
Funds will target participants in the Sinton area
(SINTON, TX – MAY 8, 2023) –– The Security Service Charitable Foundation donated $2,500 to San Patricio County Adult Literacy Council of Sinton, Texas. This donation will be used to help 15 students receive GEDs by covering the cost of required study materials and exams.
“San Patricio County Adult Literacy Council provides a great opportunity to adults who aspire to improve speaking, reading, and writing skills,” said Linda R. Medellin, executive director for San Patricio County Adult Literacy Council. “This donation from the Security Service Charitable Foundation means we can continue providing students with a quality learning process so they can acquire a GED.”
The Security Service Charitable Foundation’s donation will help San Patricio County Adult Literacy Council pay for the GED exams for the students along with the study book.
“At San Patricio County Adult Literacy Council, students can focus on learning and studying instead of worrying about how they’ll pay for the materials and exams,” said Julie Balboa, vice president of member service—South Texas for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “It’s incredible to know that with our help, these adults are able to obtain employment or further their education.”
The San Patricio County Adult Literacy Council was formed in 1996 to help communities with literacy education. Literacy, ESL, HSE/GED and Citizenship classes are offered throughout the year at no cost to the student.
The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.
