Our Mission The mission of Security Service Federal Credit Union is to provide its members the true benefits of ownership in a financially sound credit union by delivering personalized services of the highest value and quality. Our History Security Service Federal Credit Union began in 1956 with eight members and $25 in deposits. This not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution was founded to serve the financial needs of the U.S. Air Force Security Service Command. The credit union charter has expanded to serve more than 640,000 members and more than 1,000 ways to join including several geographic locations. Headquartered in San Antonio, with 30 service centers in South Texas and 13 facilities in Colorado, Security Service is the largest credit union in San Antonio and the 10th largest in the nation. In addition, SSFCU serves members in South Bexar County, those inside Loop 410 and Boerne, Medina, Uvalde, Atascosa, Aransas, Nueces, San Patricio, Hidalgo, and Cameron counties in Texas; and South El Paso County, Pueblo and Denver counties in Colorado. SSFCU will continue to capitalize on its strength of providing superior service to its members that has been the credit union’s tradition since 1956. Quality and Convenient Financial Service SSFCU is recognized as a leader in the credit union industry that has implemented the latest technology to improve convenience and service to its members. Security Service was the first credit union in San Antonio to implement online banking, CompuBranch, which is now one of the most popular delivery channel for its members. Other convenient features include the 24hour/7-day-a-week Member Contact Center, where members can speak to a live person, in English or Spanish, a network of over 100 ATM’s and regular Saturday hours at every service center. In addition, selected service centers are open on Sunday and those located in malls are open mall hours. SSFCU service centers are designed and built for efficiency, accessibility and proximity to where its members live and work, maximizing member satisfaction and convenience. Our Employees Security Service Federal Credit Union strives to recruit, train and retain a high-quality workforce. With over 1,300 employees, SSFCU is committed to providing quality service and achieving outstanding results to members at all income levels. Community Service Security Service Federal Credit Union is not only committed to serving its members’ financial needs, but also serving the communities where it operates. Through volunteerism and corporate sponsorships, SSFCU supports many worthy causes such as the United Way, American Red Cross, USO, Army and Air Force troop recognition programs, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and numerous other community and civic programs. In addition, Security Service is an underwriter and offers volunteer support for Public Television stations in Texas. SSFCU’s Volunteer Corps consists of over 280 employees and dedicates more than 1,000 hours each year volunteering at local community events and supporting charitable organizations. In 2006, the Volunteer Corps participated in 25 events that raised over $2M to benefit various community organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, American Heart Association, San Antonio Food Bank, March of Dimes, Junior Achievement and many others. Committed to strong corporate citizenship and practicing the credit union philosophy of “people helping people,” SSFCU has a long history of supporting Christus Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital and other charities in its market areas in Texas and Colorado. Since 1986, Security Service has contributed more than $1M to the Children’s Miracle Network, benefiting Christus Santa Rosa.
