Security Service Federal Credit Union ScholarshipsAbout the Scholarships:Graduating in the year 2009? You could be a candidate for a $1,000 scholarship to the college or university of your choice. SSFCU awards fifteen $1,000 one-time scholarships to outstanding college-bound students each year. Applicants fill out the application as well as send their transcripts, teacher recommendations and essay to SSFCU. An independent scholarship committee selects the winners. Winners are notified by phone and letter in mid-April. Past winners have attended Harvard, Texas A&M, University of Texas, M.I.T., Brown University and other fine schools. Application Qualifications
Award CriteriaApplicants are selected based on academic achievement, community and extra-curricular involvement, and character. Deadline for Accepting ApplicationsThe deadline for applications for 2008 scholarships will be on November 7, 2008 for Bexar County Residents, and on February 2, 2009 for all others. Applications must be received by these dates! How to ApplyIf you live in Bexar County, Texas: You must apply through the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation. You may request their application form from your high school counselor. The Piper Foundation does not allow us to post their application on the Web. You may also contact the foundation directly to request an application (click on their name to get their address). Your deadline is November 7, 2008. If you live outside of Bexar County, Texas: Click the link above for details. You apply using Security Service's scholarship application form. You may print it directly from our website, or call the Security Service Corporate Communications department at (210-476-4537 or 1-888-415-7878 ext. 4537) to request one. Mail the completed application, including all forms and supplemental materials to the Corporate Communications department. Your deadline is February 2, 2009.
